Bike lifetime expectations

How long will my bike last?

Krys vehicles are made to exacting standards for a long useful life.  The mechanical parts are long lasting and made by high quality factories.  Like most mechanical things, the vehicles need some maintenance and this will affect their useful life.  See our maintenance tips for more on this.

Lithium batteries will lose some of their capacity over time - Krys batteries should last for at least a couple of years, with regular use.  If you leave your battery for a period of time longer than a month, ensure you leave it half charged.  After a couple of years you may find that the range of the bike will reduce somewhat.  This is similar to a mobile phone battery that reduces in its standby or talk time after about 2 years.  When this range gets too short for you, simply order a new battery.  Present cost for replacement batteries is approximately $350 to $400, however, over the next two years you can probably expect that cost to reduce as technology improves.

Lead Acid batteries, when used in electric bikes, typically can be recharged about 300 to 400 times.  On the other hand, good LiFePO4Lithium batteries may be recharged up to about 2000 times.

There is no reason for you not to expect a long life of many years or decades from your Krys bike.  Like any moving device, it will need some maintenance from time to time.
